How to use

File manager screen

The folders are marked with a Folder icon. Clicking on the name of the folder will take you to a list of children files and folders. Files have different icons representing the file type. Some file types can be edited in Webby. These files include web documents, scripts, style sheets, archives, and other text files. To edit a file, click its name and you will be taken to Webby's editor. Additionally, images and Adobe Acrobat files can be viewed (but not edited) with Webby.

If Show folder size is selected, the amount of disk space taken up by each child folder will be displayed in the list. Clicking on the size (or on the words "disk usage") next to a folder will bring up a chart showing a detailed breakdown of disk space used.

To select a file or folder, highlight it by moving the mouse over it's row and clicking. When a file has been selected, its row will remained highlighted, and its selected checkbox will be checked. To select all files, check the checkbox in the very top row of the file list. To unselect all files, uncheck that checkbox.

You may perform batch operations on several selected files at once. Move (or rename), Copy, Delete, and Archive can be performed on one or more files.

1.     Archive: brings up a dialog box that allows you to store the selected files in a single archive file (sometimes called a "zip" or "tar" file). This is useful when you want to save all the files from a certain date, or when you want to transfer many files at once. You can also compress the archive.

1.     Copy: allows you to copy the selected files from the current folder to another. You will end up with a duplicate of each of the files you selected. Select the path to copy the file to from the dropdown, optionally change the filename, and click "copy to" and the file will be copied. If more than one file is selected, you will not be permitted to type a file name.

1.     Delete: removes permanently the selected files from your site. Use Caution! There is no way to recover the deleted files without a fee.

1.     Find: allows you to search the current folder and possibly all its decendants for files with a certain name, or for files containing certain text. Clicking find will bring up this dialog box. The "Find files named:" field can contain wildcards. For instance if you want to search for a file with "index" anywhere in the name, you would enter "*index*". The "containing text" field is for finding text within files. Check "recurse subdirectories" if you want to search through the files in the current directory and all its descendants.

1.     Move: allows you to move the selected files from the current folder to another folder. If only one file is selected, you also have the option to rename it. The move dialog box has the same options as the copy dialog box.

1.     Refresh: if you've made a change to the current folder and it's not showing up, this button will refresh the listing.

1.     Show/Hide folder size: this button will toggle the display of the folder sizes for the current and all other folders you view. The advantage of not showing folder sizes is a faster display of folders.
